NNAT Level D Pattern Completion Sample Questions

A picture has a missing piece. Look for the rule in the pattern – repeating colors, lines, or shapes – and choose the piece that makes the whole design fit perfectly. Small details like line direction and shading matter.

NNAT Level D Reasoning by Analogy Sample Questions

The given shapes go together in a certain way, and you must find a new shape that goes with another in the same way. Ask, “What changed – size, number, shading, rotation?” Use that same rule to pick the match.

Question #3

Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test 3rd Grade Sample Question - Reasoning by Analogy

Answer Choices for Reasoning by Analogy Question

The correct answer is option C.

In this, all box has a square divided into four equal parts and have two filled colors (pink and green).

The first column has a random pink color, green color, or empty color fill in the small squares.

The second column is formed by the first column in a specific way. From the first column, the pink fill color is changed to green, and white and green are changed only to pink in the second column (pink to green, green and white to pink).

The position of each of the four parts is the same as the original positions in the first column.

To find the unknown box:

The first column, third box has one pink color on the top right, two green diagonally, and one empty on the bottom left.

The color is changed accordingly in the above-mentioned way – the pink becomes green, and the green and white become pink.

Therefore, the correct answer is option C.

Question #4

Reasoning by Analogy Practice Question

Answer Choices for Practice Question

The correct answer is option A.

In the first column, each box contains four diamond shapes filled with different colors: brown, blue, red, and yellow.

All the boxes feature these four colored diamond shapes arranged in a specific order, as illustrated in the figure above.

In the first box of the first column, the diamonds are arranged from back to front in the order of brown, blue, red, and yellow.

The second column is derived from the first column through a specific transformation.

First, the diamond shapes in the boxes of the first column are reflected as mirror images along a vertical plane and placed in their respective boxes in the second column.

The order of color changes as it is rotated and reflected accordingly, while the colors that fill each box remain unchanged.

Following this, the third column is formed by interchanging the positions of the back and front diamonds in each box of the second column, while the middle two diamonds remain fixed in their places.

The resulting shapes are then placed in their respective boxes in the third column.

The second box in the second column features diamonds arranged as red, yellow, brown, and blue from back to front.

So, the unknown box should contain diamonds arranged in the order of blue, yellow, brown, and red from back to front. Therefore, the correct answer is option A.

NNAT Level D Serial Reasoning Sample Questions

Shapes change step by step across rows or down columns. Find the rule (add a line, flip a shape, change color, move, rotate, etc.), then predict the next step to complete the sequence.

Question #5

Serial Reasoning Sample Question

Answer Choices for Serial Reasoning Sample Question

The correct answer is D.

  • Step 1: There is a set of three different arrows arranged in a different order, in each row or column – pointing to the bottom right, bottom left, and top left.
  • Step 2: The color scheme is the same for the left and right cells of each row.

In the third row, there are already arrows that point to the top left and bottom right, so the missing arrow should point to the bottom left.

The color of the box should be identical to the color of the left box, which is yellow.

Therefore, the correct answer is D.

Question #6

Sample Question - Serial Reasoning

Answer Choices - Serial Reasoning

The correct answer is B.

Step 1: In each cell of a row, the outer region of the figure is shaded with either one of these three colors: blue, yellow, or white.

Step 2: Similarly, the inner region of the figure is shaded with either one of these three colors – blue, yellow, or white.

In the third row, there are already outer shapes that are filled with blue and white, so the missing shape should have a yellow outer shape.

The inner shapes are already filled with yellow and blue, so the missing inner shape should be white.

The only option that fits this is B, so it’s the correct answer.

NNAT Level D Spatial Visualization Sample Questions

These include two question types – combination and folding.

In combination questions, two shapes are combined to create a third shape.

In folding questions, the elements within the boxes are folded inwards to create a new shape.

Each of the question types could include a rotation in addition to the combination/folding of the shapes.

Question #7 – Combination

Spatial Visualization Sample Question - Combination

Answer Choices for the Spatial Combination Question

The correct answer is option D.

In the first row, the first box contains two vertical yellow arrows.

The second box features two yellow arrows: one pointing to the right and the other at an angle to the horizontal.

The third box in this row forms a combination of the first two boxes, with the arrow from the second box placed in front of the first box’s arrows.

Both arrows maintain the same color, orientation, and position, resulting in a specific shape that is then placed in the third box.

In the second row, the red angle section from the second box is similarly positioned in front of the first box’s red angle shape, and the newly formed shape is placed in the third box.

In the third row, the first box contains two color-filled arrows, while the second box has a red-filled angle section.

Following the same method as before, the angle section is positioned in front of the arrow to create a shape in the unknown box, which resembles option D. Therefore, the correct answer is option D.

Question #8 – Folding

Spatial Visualization Sample Question - Folding

Answer Choices for Folding Question

The correct answer is option A.

In the first row, the first box contains a pink-filled square having two geometric shapes on the outside attached to the vertical side (lime green filled on the left side and sky blue filled on the right side).

The second box of the same row is a transformation of the first box.

First, the outside shapes’ mirror image on a vertical plane, folds inside the pink-filled square on the same side they were attached. These mirror-image fill colors are in front of the pink fill square color.

Then, the image formed is rotated by 90 degrees clockwise, and this final shape is placed in the second box of the same row.

A similar principle is applied to determine the contents of the unknown box.

In the second row, the first box has an empty square having two geometric shapes on the outside attached to the vertical side (blue filled on the left side and green filled on the right side.

The outside shapes’ mirror image on a vertical plane, folds inside the empty square on the same side they were attached.

These mirror-image fill colors are in front of the empty square and then rotated by 90 degrees clockwise. This final shape resembles option A. Therefore, the correct answer is option A.
